On the 21st April 2017 McLaren Construction was asked to participate in the ‘Employ Wandsworth 2017’ Job fair at the local Wandsworth Community Centre Town hall. This was the second of its type and was very well received.
Chris Dimond who is part of the Victoria Drive Site Team attended the fair, to speak to the local community about career advice and support for moving into the construction industry. The event held 850 local people and received very positive feedback from the community who visited the McLaren stand.
Overall, the event held 36 exhibiting businesses and 12 exhibiting partners. On the day the seminars and workshops providing advice on CVs, the hidden job market, application technique, business start-up advice, money management and careers within retail in a range of workshops and seminars these were well attended and received very positive feedback from our residents.
Chris enjoyed the experience and was pleased to meet so many local people looking to move into the industry. His skills and experience as a Logistics Manager allowed people to see the ways in which they could apply themselves to roles within construction and helped empower people to step out of their comfort zones to look to approach this sector for the first time.
This is another fantastic step towards McLaren Construction stepping out into the community and on behalf of the site we would really like to thank Chris for his hard work and dedication in undertaking this event, showing there is so much more to construction and the industry then just buildings and at McLaren we strive to build communities too.
