Installation will take place for the passenger goods hoist, over the next weeks to allow vertical distribution of materials to Block 2.

Community Investment

Following on from Hannah’s success in getting to know the local community through our regular newsletters, meetings and updates have begun in with Southmead Children’s Centre, Ackroydon Hall, Ronald Ross Primary School and Open Door Community Centre to speak about what upcoming opportunities there will be for collaboration in community events.

McLaren have also been able to visit Our Lady Queen of Heaven Primary School to attend an assembly to speak to the years 3, 4, 5 and 6 about jobs in construction Angela Pitcher, Head Teacher said: ‘Thank you for organising the recent assembly which the children really enjoyed. It is so important for the children to have the opportunity to learn about careers and the world ahead of them as they grow up.’  The session was very enjoyable and we hope to have left the children with a lasting impression of what it’s like to be in the construction industry.

In order to actively promote employment and training within the local community, the Cambium Site (Victoria Drive) team have worked closely with our partners Wandsworth Council, and after the success of the open day which was held on site we are pleased to announce that we have been able to offer two apprenticeship opportunities to Joe Edwards and William Dewart with our bricklayer contractors RI Works, we wish them all the best and would like to thank RI Works for giving them the opportunities.

Collaboration with ourselves, Wandsworth Job Match and South Thames College really allows us to get people locally onto employment and aims to move more people into a diverse and ever expanding sector.

With the school holidays now upon us we will now be working at getting a date finalised for a drop in session at Victoria Drive so we can hear and advice on how the site has changed within the last month.
