Programme Update: October 2017

Progress Update

The month of October will see a continuation of works on all of the blocks of town houses and will see the further progression of the envelope works of the apartment block.

This week sees further progress on brickwork throughout the site, and continuation of window installation on Block 2 and 3.

Structure and envelope is nearing completion seeing the first of the roofs being installed on block 1 and remaining blocks are progressing well 3, 4, 5 see the installation of the second story brickwork on floors with Block 6 and  progressing up to Level 1.

Community Investment

This month after seeing the children returning back to school and the new curriculum in place, the site has engaged with more of the public due to three complaints within the last month which have all been dealt with effectively and closed within a timely manner.

McLaren have seen an increase of people accessing the Cambium site, there has been a high influx of traffic and complaints have been raised in regards to parking. We have therefore been in direct liaison with the local council to enforce parking limitations to stop any disruptions to walkways, tickets are now being issued to anyone who is caught parking irresponsibly.

The site has also carried out an independent campaign against parking on the local foot paths with a good level of success. McLaren will this over the coming months. McLaren have also been regularly carrying out litter pics around the site confines.

McLaren are encouraging the local neighbours of the site to continue to notify us of any of further disruptions that we can be in assistance with this via the Considerate Constructors Scheme feedback form.

McLaren will be working with Wandsworth Highways within the next month to confirm the Section 278 Highways works to Victoria Drive that will take place. This therefore may cause some minor disruption whilst the works are being carried out. Further information will be distributed to those residents who will be effected.

As part of Victoria Drive’s ongoing commitment to local employment, we will be introducing office work experience to encourage females into the industry and will be working closely with Wandsworth Council ‘BEST’ project to source suitable candidates, and will be seeing them be employed onto the site in the middle of October. These opportunities provide an introduction into the industry which may not be available to the trainees otherwise.

Programme Update: May 2017

Programme of Works – Development of Site

The site has been under construction for now over 9 months and we have made real progress in terms to the works taking place on site.

Block One – The first phase of these works is coming on very well, we are now starting to see this block take place and the second floor block work is now in progress above the hoarding.

Block Two – This is the block you will now be able to start seeing creeping above the hoarding and is the block which is the nearest to completion, this phase is the construction of the apart blocks.

BlockS Three, Four, Five, Six and Seven – These blocks are all now beginning to constructed starting on the overall completion of Victoria Drive.

Within the next month we will start to see the scaffolding being erected on the site which will be a significant moment for the site. This scaffolding will be present for approximately 4 months to allow brickworks and roofing to progress.

Community Investment

On the 08th of May 2017 McLaren Construction integrated a new Community Liaison Coordinator for the Cambium Development. Hannah Cowell has formally began working on ways in which we can improve and engage local schools, and the direct community engagement with the local community.

Since beginning the role Hannah has become a well-known face on the Cambium site and will be making every effort to improve relationships and make herself well known in the local community, and will be in direct with liaison with the public.

We welcome Hannah on board, and will make sure that she looks to arrange a drop in sessions for people to come and meet her face to face, and find out further what we aim to achieve before completion. We welcome to your feedback, queries and comments on the development happening on site.

Programme Update: October 2016

Project Progress

The Cambium development is progressing well with the piled foundations phase 1 coming to the end in the next four weeks and the drainage and block and brickwork foundations following on with Blocks 3 (11 town Houses), Block 4 (7 town Houses) and Block 5 (12 town houses). The block and brickworks will commence on Block 1 week commencing the 17th October 2016 with Blocks 3, 4 and 5 following on.
The photograph shows the completed foundations and drainage to Block 1 on the Victoria Drive elevation, comprising six town houses the block and brickwork is due to commence on the 17th October 2016.

Construction Programme

  • Current status – week 9 of 106
  • October – Piling 75 % completed on programme
  • November – Drainage, brick and block work to commence. Relocation of marketing suite to Victoria Drive
  • December – Drainage, brick and block work to continue
